Originally built in 1887, this charming, Antebellum style home was used as a young women's boarding school. In 1902, it served for a time as Franklin Highschool and in 1915 it was converted into a Hotel. In 1982, The building was added to a much deserved place on The National Register of Historic Places. This grand old Terrace has seen many changes since then as owners have come and gone, yet she has always served the members and the visitors of Franklin well.

Reopening for this first time in almost a decade in 2015, The Franklin Terrace invites visitors to once more grace her doors and relax in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. Explore the quiet trails of the region or discover one of the many stunning waterfalls that adorn our majestic mountains. Our Downtown District is within easy walking distance and there is a beautiful paved path (The Greenway) that follows the Little Tennessee River for several miles within walking distance as well. From gem mining to museum going to shopping in our downtown district, there are a plethora of options for the savvy traveler to enjoy nearby.
